Around Ljubljana with a Frenchwoman

Although she spends most of her time in Slovenia in the Primorska Region, she loves coming to Ljubljana, where she makes sure to have a stroll around Tivoli Park and to check out the boutiques in the Old Town of Ljubljana.

Top activities in Ljubljana:

1. Bicycle Hire

Yana recommends all French visitors to see Ljubljana during a ride with a bicycle. Since – compared to Paris – Ljubljana is a small town, you can have a look around using a bicycle in a single afternoon, with one of the must-do things being a picnic in the Tivoli Park. ʺWe often use Ljubljana’s self-service bicycle hire BicikeLJ, for which you need the so-called Urbana card available from any newsagentʺ was another useful tip shared by Yana.

2. Shopping

Although Paris is brimming with boutiques by every imaginable word-famous label, while in Ljubljana, Yana always likes to check out what is new in the Old Town of Ljubljana. ʺSmall boutique shops with products by local artists and designers are on my must-visit list whenever I shop for souvenirs and gifts for my friends in Parisʺ Yana told us.

3. Takeaway Culinary Delights

ʺI know these are not Slovenian dishes, but I make sure I have some whenever I visit Slovenia. I love čevapčiči (grilled minced meat) and ajvar (red bell pepper relish), as well as crêpesʺ Yana told us, adding that she recommends eating this for lunch to anyone who would like to enjoy some food outdoors during the first warm days of the year.
